Why we need trauma-informed preventative care in paediatric hospital settings

Trauma-informed preventative care (TIPC) is a framework for the delivery of care that involves realising the high prevalence of psychological trauma, recognising and addressing its impact on patients, their families and staff and preventing traumatisation during episodes of care. Implementing TIPC in a hospital setting requires an organisation-wide approach based on a shared understanding and a shared language of trauma and trauma-informed care. Leadership support is essential for driving organisational change.

Co-hosting Australia’s first ever dementia podcast

Australia has an exciting new podcast called “Hold the Moment”. It’s co-hosted by respected journalist and Dementia Australia ambassador Hamish Macdonald, whose father has dementia, and dementia advocate Jim Rogers, who is living with younger onset Alzheimer’s disease, diagnosed in 2022. The podcast taps into real life stories and experiences of people living with dementia, along with great tips to help with living well after diagnosis.
